Motto—New Beijing, Great Olympics口号——新北京，新奥运
Reform and opening up to the outside world have brought about great changes in Beijing, a city with a 3,000-year history. The city has taken on a completely new look as it enters the new century. It will embrace the athletes and friends from the rest of the world attending the Olympic Games with great enthusiasm.
The great modern Olympic Movement has gone through many changes in the past 100 years. Dear Editor,
I'm writing to tell you about the discussion on whether an entrance fee should be charged for parks. Opinions vary from person to person on this issue.
50% of the students disagree with the idea of entrance fees. In their opinion, parks are public places where all the people can have a rest and enjoy themselves. So if an entrance fee is charged, some people will surely be kept away from the park. Besides, in order to charge entrance fees, gates and walls must be built. They think that it will do harm to the appearance of a city.
40% of the students agree with the idea of entrance fees, because the gardeners need to be paid and new plants and flowers need to be bought. But fees should be charged reasonably.
Yours truly,
XXX

Hi Bob,
It’s great news that you’ll be arriving in September. I’ve located a suitable spot for you. It’s a tiny 25-square-meter apartment featuring a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Inside the bedroom, you’ll find a bed, a sofa, a desk, and a chair. The monthly rent is 500 yuan. This apartment is situated in a building on Fangcao Street, close to Jianxin Chinese School. You can take Bus No. 11 directly there, and it’s just a one-stop ride. How does that sound to you? If it doesn’t fit your needs, I can look for another option. Please let me know your thoughts.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Sarah,
I’m very sorry to inform you that I can’t make it to your birthday party next Thursday night. My little brother suddenly got sick this morning and was rushed to the hospital, so I have to go right away to look after him. The doctor says he’ll need about five days to get better, and I’ve already asked my boss for time off.
I feel really bad that I won’t be there to celebrate with you and miss out on having fun with all our old friends. I’ve picked out a small present for you and will mail it to you tomorrow as a token of my best wishes. Also, please say hello to our friends for me when you see them at the party.
Best regards,

Lately, ignoring traffic regulations and throwing trash around have become frequent, bringing great danger to lives and nature. To improve this state of affairs, everyone needs to put in significant effort. In my view, the change should begin with my daily journey to school.
I will strictly follow traffic rules during my commute. When riding a bike, I will always stay on the right side and wait for the green light before crossing the street. On foot, I will make sure to use the crosswalks. At the same time, I consider it my responsibility to maintain a clean and healthy environment. I will avoid littering or spitting in public, and I will also assist in picking up garbage along the road whenever I can. I trust that my actions will bring about positive changes.
