Pingtan, located in Fuzhou, is my hometown. It boasts a spot that is quite famous among locals. Don’t misunderstand, though. Despite the name, it isn’t a traditional resort. Actually, it is a stunning beach. Every summer holiday, I make it a point to visit. The weather is usually scorching hot. I would dive into the sea, wearing my swimsuit, letting the waves wash over me. If you bury your hands deep in the sand, you can often find clams, octopuses, and other tiny sea creatures. My friends and I compete to see who can catch the most clams. I try to push my hands deeper. Suddenly, my fingers brush against something hard. I keep feeling around... Hey! There’s something hard and slippery! As soon as I touch it, it tries to slip away. I hurriedly scoop up a bit of mud, look inside, and spot a brown clam. I grab it quickly and rinse it in the sea. The sand on the beach is extremely fine. When you walk by, footprints are left behind. To cool off, I lie down and pile sand over my legs. The more I pile up, the deeper my legs sink until they are buried completely. Though I can’t move, it feels incredibly relaxing. This place is quite expansive. There are other scenic spots, like sand sculptures. Various intricate designs are carved into the sand, glowing at night. There is also a food street. Tables and chairs line the path. The entire street is filled with small shops. Visitors can buy snacks from different stalls, sit at the tables, and enjoy their meals. Visiting this beach is truly delightful! Relaxing is always a simple pleasure. My mother kept her promise to let me do what I wanted. Since I could choose my destination, I picked Qingdao. The education group organized a trip, and with my mom’s approval, I was thrilled. I kept music playing in my mind, eagerly counting down the days. One day, two days, three days... Finally, the day arrived. My mom returned home early and told me, “At 5:30 PM, get ready.” My heart raced with excitement. At 5:30, she drove me on time to the meeting spot at Hongyun Building. Boarding the bus, we felt a mix of nerves and sudden hesitation. As the bus sped along the highway, we arrived without realizing it, leaving us all stunned. The swimming area was several times larger than our pool, which wasn’t surprising. We fished at night and stayed until the next morning. Happiness felt endless; we laughed and talked, enjoying every moment. First, we took a yacht. Its speed was amazing. Then we swam and had a great time. We also visited the aquarium, seeing sharks dancing with humans and various sea creatures I’d never seen before. It really broadened our horizons. Heading back, I didn’t want to leave, feeling reluctant to sit on the bus. Even now at home, I still miss the soft, happy times in Qingdao.
